What is the Gratuity Calculator?
A gratuity calculator works out the lump sum your employer owes you when you leave after years of service. Enter your last drawn basic salary plus dearness allowance and how long you have worked there, and it applies the Payment of Gratuity Act formula: 15 days’ wages for every year of service, at 26 working days a month.
It handles the rules people most often get wrong. A part-year of more than six months counts as a full year, gratuity is only payable after five years of continuous service (except on death or disablement), and employers outside the Act usually follow a stricter 15/30 formula for completed years only. It also splits the amount at the ₹20 lakh tax-free limit, so you know how much will be added to your taxable income. Everything is calculated in your browser.
How to use it
- Enter your last drawn monthly basic salary plus DA.
- Enter your years of service and any extra months.
- Choose whether your employer is covered by the Gratuity Act.
- Choose the reason for leaving if it was death or disablement.
- Read the gratuity payable and the tax-free and taxable parts; press Copy for a summary.
